La lettera è stata mandata dopo la morte di Gibelli, avvenuta il 16/09/1898, di cui peraltro Christ è a conoscenza, come è detto al termine della lettera stessa; probabilmente il destinatario è Belli, che ha sostituito per qualche tempo il maestro dopo la sua scomparsa.
