Lettera inviata da Riva Valdobbia [VC] il 20 ottobre 1874. Carestia aveva intenzione di raccogliere per Gibelli le bacche mature di Empetrum nigrum, però gliene è mancato il tempo. Ha ospite da qualche tempo presso di sé Gaudin, che si dichiara ottimo amico di Gibelli, come già gli avevano detto Cesati, De Notaris e Piccone.
